Build UK Prioritises Safety with SmartCard Audit
Build UK and CECA are leading the way to a safer industry by carrying out an audit of industry skills cards across members’ construction sites on Wednesday 8 February 2017.
The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has specified a requirement for skills cards to carry the CSCS logo, with no equivalents accepted, from 2015 and for these cards to become smart enabled. The objective is to provide a consistent means of recognising that individuals working on construction sites have the required training and qualifications for their occupation.
The Build UK and CECA SmartCard Audit will promote the value of the smart technology used by CSCS and its affiliated schemes to drive increased industry uptake and highlight any expired and fraudulent cards.
It represents a fantastic opportunity for Contractor members to evaluate how they currently use smart technology on site to verify skills cards and take the steps required to increase usage across their construction sites.
Build UK Chief Executive Suzannah Nichol MBE said:
“The SmartCard Audit is a great chance for us to understand what steps we need to take to fully integrate smart technology into the industry’s daily practices. By emphasising the benefits of SmartCards and driving increased industry uptake, Build UK and its members can continue to lead positive change in the industry.”
